Vote for Bush: He eats Ice Cream

Have you ever been to GW's official campaign website? I highly recommend it. Especially the blog. Here's a quote:

"John Kerry was in Milwaukee the other day, but failed to pay a visit to one of the city's most storied landmarks. Jim Stingl of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has the goods:

"Thousands of us heard John Kerry localize his presidential stump speech by saying he 'sure better find some baby backs over there at Speed Queen Bar-B-Q and a double-dip vanilla at Leon's.

'And if I don't get there, I'm in trouble.'

"OK then, Sen. Kerry, you're in trouble.

'No, he didn't come,' said Steven Schneider, a manager at Leon's Frozen Custard, 3131 S. 27th St.

"For the record: last month, President Bush took the time to stop by the Leon's in Oshkosh. Check out the Wisconsin bus tour video for more. "

Well, Kerry just lost my vote. That's all that really matters, after all: how a candidate campaigns. The bullshit stuff we all understand and know why they do. Not what a person does in office. It's OK if Bush's actions lead to the death of someone like Steven Schneider, or to someone in his family losing his job, so long as he patrons the restaurant while he's trying to get re-elected.

An inordinate amount of time seems to be sent on playing up the myth that Kerry received no bounce from the convention. They always talk only about "likely voters," you'll notice. That's because they know the real bounce will come from people who have never voted before. Also, they don't want to talk about the electoral college because Kerry got an even bigger bounce if you go by contested states, and that is all that really matters. Did he convince many voters in Utah or Texas or Nebraska? No. Do those states count in national polls? Yes.

Don't get me wrong: I hate the electoral college. It's what will insure that I will be throwing my vote away at this critical time. But it's reality. (And it's on our side for right now! Let's hope it stays that way)
